Successful installation

of Heinzmann digital speed governors to the norwegian navy / coastguard.

Data Process Automasjon AS has recently completed the delivery of new digital electronic governors to the first in the row of Nordkapp-class coastguard vessels. The installation was for 4 engines, two and two connected to the same shaft with automatic master / slave and load sharing.

Last year the engines where upgraded to low NOX. This changed the characteristics of the engines and required enhanced control.

With background in our experience from previous deliveries of Heinzmann digital Speed Governors for different engines and several different engine setups we were chosen to find a solution to the problems that arose after the upgrade.

DPA completed the planning, installation and the tuning of the new electronic speed governors.

The sea tests of the vessel completed after one day with intensive testing and also some fine-tuning of the governors. The problem that arose due to the low NOX upgrade where then removed, and the control of the engines was much better. The control is now optimal for all speed and load areas that the engines are run at.

The systems delivered are based on Heinzmann Digital Speed Governors HELENOS |||. Two more vessels will be rebuilt during February 2009.

DPA are the Norwegian representative, and has delivered Heinzmann speed governors since 1987.
